1、 Directly align and process according to the valve cover.
Use a four jaw single action chuck to clamp onto the small end or rib of the valve cover, and directly align and process it according to the flange. This method is commonly used for small-scale production. When processing, first drill the middle hole with a drill bit smaller than the middle through-hole, and then use a tip to support and turn various parts of the flange. After exiting the top, enlarge the hole to the required size in the drawing. If the austenitic stainless steel valve cover of the soft seal gate valve has an upper sealing cone surface that is directly driven out from the body, the upper seal needs to be tightened after drilling the hole; If the upper seal is formed after welding, the flange must be processed in two steps: rough and fine machining. When rough machining, the pre weld dimensions of the welding area should be processed according to the welding process specifications; The clamping method for precision machining after welding is the same as that for rough machining.

2、 Install with fixtures.
One method is to use the small end inner hole of the valve cover and the back of the flange as a reference, and install them on the fixture to process the outer circle, middle through-hole, and upper seal of the flange. The main advantages of using this cylindrical fixture to process flanges are: the fixture is directly connected to the machine tool spindle, with good rigidity, which can reduce the deformation of the fixture caused by cutting and clamping forces; The positioning surface is very close to the machining surface, so a large cutting amount can be used during machining; The workpiece is easy to load and unload, and the installation is reliable. Another method is to use the small end face and the cylindrical hole and seasoning box hole matched with the valve stem nut as the positioning reference, and install them on the spindle to process the flange. This method is generally suitable for machining large-sized cast iron valve covers. Because the structural dimensions of this valve cover are very high, if a four jaw single action chuck is used for installation, it will affect the efficiency and quality of processing due to poor rigidity.
